LAWYER · AI GOVERNANCE · NEW DELHI

Yashraj S. Jakhar

I spent over two years inside an AI company's legal team, then did a Berkeley LL.M. Now I study how AI is governed, and run small open experiments on how frontier models actually behave.

The thread through all of it is one question: what are rules worth when they rest on what a company says about itself? My policy report on California's SB 53 found that the law leans on developer self-disclosure. My article in progress asks what a developer's own safety test is worth when the model can tell it is being tested. The experiments check what models do, rather than what their makers say.

Two jobs and a course. I am an Associate at Enviro Legal Defence Firm, an environmental law practice in New Delhi, and a part-time researcher at the Cyril Shroff Centre for AI, Law and Regulation at Jindal Global Law School. I am taking BlueDot Impact's Frontier AI Governance course (October to November 2026). Before this: in-house counsel at Builder.ai in Dubai, 2022 to 2024, where I handled more than 200 technology contracts and advised on privacy and regulation across the US, EU, UK and UAE.

Built with AI agents

One live product and one prototype, made without a coding background. They are how I learned what AI agents do well and where they fail.
